Al Hammadi Praises Directives of Hamdan bin Rashid to Develop Al Maktoum College in Dundee

His Excellency Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education praised the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance to develop Al Maktoum College of Higher Education in Dundee, Scotland, and exploit its capabilities and potentials to serve consecutive generations of the UAE girls, who participate in the program of “Multiculture and Leadership Skills” that the college implements upon the directives of His Highness in the frame of interest in qualifying and enabling the UAE girls as leader of the future.

HE expressed his happiness to attend the ceremony of graduating a new batch of the UAE universities and colleges’ students, besides to students from Qatar University and Cairo University – Faculty of Economics and Political Science, and Malaya University, Malaysia. These students have participated in the program of Multiculture and Leadership Skills, which was concluded recently with the participation of 60 students, besides to three employees of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance.

Al Hammadi showed pleasure to be present at this academic monument, which sprouted from the concepts and giving of HH Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who founded the College to be a center for civilized and scientific radiation and human communication. HE highlighted the importance of the topics of the program, curricular and cultural activities, as well as graduating a new batch of students, to whom the College provided the chance to get out from the family and relative circle, and travel to acquire scientific knowledge, vocational skills, vital experiences, and leadership skills that contribute to developing their personalities.

HE stressed that Al Maktoum College contributes to qualifying students to perform their roles and leadership tasks that are crucial and necessary for their future life. Further, HE explained that the graduation of about 1,000 students from the program since its inauguration in 2003 so far means many things, to all of Al Maktoum College of Higher Education, the students and UAE in general, because those students have been armed with experience and experiments that would open wide horizons to them to progress and be distinguished, and to continue progressing in the route of science and acquiring knowledge in such a way to be prepared to take over leadership national positions.

Al Hammadi forwarded thanks and appreciation to HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum for this distinguished and innovative initiative, which works on connecting civilizations and gathering the countries through the participation of students from the UAE, Qatar, Egypt and Malaysia. He added that this conglomeration of civilizations concentrates on topics that we currently need in this age, especially in the presence of such strange currents that invade Europe and the Arab World.

The topics of the program include educating, enlightening and upbringing future mothers and leaders with concepts based on forgiveness, dialogue, understanding the others, cooperation and responsibility.

“This initiative will have an important role, especially because it deals with important specializations required by labor market, either in Britain or the UAE. The participation of this number of students in the program in its summer and winter courses, amounting to 120 students per year will transfer knowledge to the Arab and friendly countries participating in this initiative, and helps in enriching and sharing the concepts and opinions among the students” Al Hammadi stated.

Commenting on his meeting with the graduates, HE the Minister of Education expressed his happiness to meet students from the UAE, Qatar and Egypt, who stressed their benefit from a qualitative rare unrepeatable experiment, through which they acquired leadership skills and experience, in addition to the ability to hold dialogue, present their point of view, and develop their capacities as related to what is going on around the world. This program made them distinguished ambassadors for moderate Islam and the Islamic culture. They have also become able to hold dialogue with other civilizations and religions smoothly.

He lauded the outstanding position that Al Maktoum College of Higher Education occupies in Dundee, being a civilized beacon and radiation in Europe, which is a great addition to the city’s international scientific and cultural institutions.

As well, HE Sulaiman Hamed Al Mazroui, UAE Ambassador to the UK stressed that the program contributes to increasing the capacities of students and enhance their self-confidence, besides to providing them with experience and experiments that assist them in facing the challenges imposed by progressing in the routes of science and career.

“What we see today would not have been achieved without such philanthropic initiatives launched by the sponsor of the College, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the UAE Minister of Finance, who early realized the importance of such courses in enlightening the students and providing them with practical experiences that cannot be acquired by any other means,” Al Mazroui said in a declaration on this occasion.

“Through these courses, Al Maktoum College furnishes live educational program that tackle several urgent cases, such as multiculture, globalization, human and civilized communication and the importance of origination national women competencies to contribute to leading the communities to the safe land,” HE added.

Al Mazroui stressed that it is elating to see the number of the students who graduated from this program now amounting to roughly a thousand. They benefited from this experiment, and this would make them a treasure for their families, universities, and their homeland, and even ambassadors not only for Al Maktoum College and Scotland, but also for the UK to the UAE, as they were the best ambassadors for their country during the courses of the program.

“In the frame of working on developing and growing the relations between both countries, the Embassy concentrates on education in a country such as Britain, which strong and distinguished relations link us with it in different fields, and concentrates on the cultural, health and economic fields,” Al Mazroui elaborated.

The UAE Ambassador reassured the fact that every single effort exerted by the Emirati people in Britain will add a cornerstone to the monument of steady and developed bilateral relations, referring to their roles as diplomates in enhancing and developing this aspect.

He said that through this academic program, the students will have deeper understanding to the culture and dialogue, as well as to their ability to reach understanding with people of other nationalities. He explained that the participation of students from the universities and colleges of UAE, Qatar, Egypt and Malaysia enriches the dialogue and makes the students acquire scientific and cultural experiences.

He commended the general directives of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum in implementing this program, in addition to the support to this academic institution, which is considered a scientific beacon that contributes to the introduction of the UAE and moderate Islam.
